Writer + Photo Editor

Gabriel Sanchez is a writer, curator, and photo editor based in New York City. He holds an MFA in Photography from Parsons and is a current photo editor at the New York Times. He is a contributing art critic for Artforum International Magazine and a professor of photography at Parsons The New School of Design.

Previously, Gabriel was BuzzFeed’s senior photo essay editor of six years, where he researched, curated and wrote over 2,000 articles using photography to explore aspects of culture, art, history and current events.

In 2020, he published his first book with Prestel Publishing / Penguin Random House titled “In the Limelight: The Visual Ecstasy of NYC Nightlife in the 90s,” which explores New York City's ’90s club scene through a collection of rare and never-before-seen pictures.
